Sage Etling grew up in Altoona, Iowa, in the suburbs of Des Moines. She is studying towards a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies at the University of Iowa. She originally discovered art within her family. Growing up her family home was decorated with intergenerational oil landscape paintings. On her mother’s side, she is related to a long line of women painters and artists. A consistent theme in her art is color and experimentation. She enjoys exploring themes of oversaturated colors in her artwork and experimenting with various interesting mediums, including linework, black and white, markers, colored pencils, sculpture, sound, digital art, and the use of video.
